The Benefits of All-On-4®

If you are missing all or most of your teeth in one or both jaws, then you may be a candidate for All-On-4®. This is a system of four implants that support an entire set of artificial teeth in either the upper or the lower arch. This system can offer several benefits, including reducing the risk of bone loss over the years. All-On-4 can also make it easier for you to eat and give you a beautiful smile.
How does All-On-4 work?
To start with, the dentist will remove any remaining teeth from the jaw. These may be teeth that are decayed and cannot be saved. This will make room for the implants and artificial teeth. Next, the dentist will place four implants strategically in the jaw. The dentist can place these implants at an angle to take advantage of the existing bone. This means that most people can be candidates for All-On-4.
After the implants have been placed, the dentist can attach the artificial teeth to the implants. When the bone has grown around the implants, the teeth will be nearly as strong as natural teeth.
Better for the jaw
Traditional dentures rest on the patient’s gums. However, with All-On-4, the artificial teeth are supported by the implants. This means that the gums will not have the hard job of supporting the impact of the teeth. This can help to preserve the gums and prevent them from wearing down over the years.
The implants can also help prevent bone loss for the patient. The implants can stimulate the jawbone by moving slightly as the patient eats. This helps keep the bone density from being lost. Because the structure of the jawbone is being maintained, the patient may not have to get adjustments to the artificial teeth, unlike dentures.
Easier to eat
With dentures, as the patient’s jawbone changes, the dentures may not fit as well as before. However, with All-On-4, they will continue to fit properly. This means that the artificial teeth will not slip around when eating. This can allow the patient to enjoy more foods, including steak, crunchy nuts and fresh vegetables. With this more nutritious diet, the patient can prevent other health problems, including obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes.
Feeling better
Because the All-On-4 system will not slip around the patient’s mouth, the patient will not need to be embarrassed when speaking. Ill-fitting dentures can cause difficulty in speaking for the patient. This can make the patient feel embarrassed when speaking or even smiling. However, with the well-fitting All-On-4 system, the patient can feel confident when speaking or smiling.
